Description
The Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF) was established by the 1996 Nebraska Affordable Housing Act (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§58-701 through 58-711). The Act was adopted to address the state’s affordable housing needs and called for a portion of the documentary stamp tax from Nebraska real estate transactions to be transferred to the NAHTF providing a resource to increase the supply and improve the quality of affordable housing in Nebraska and to encourage economic development and promote the general prosperity of all Nebraskans.

Pre-recorded Application Workshop: A pre-recorded application workshop will be available for viewing on March 11, 2022 by 12:00 PM (Central) Workshop details will be found at this link: https://opportunity.nebraska.gov/grow-your-community/training/ Open Office Hours: Open Office Hours will be led by regional housing representatives. All applicants that completed a pre-application will be invited to attend any or all sessions. Registration will be open March 11, 2022. Open office hours will be held via Webex on March 15, March 16, March 22, and March 24, 2022. Participants need to view the pre-recorded application workshop prior to attending open office hours.
Other Submission Requirements
NAHTF Program Guidelines: https://opportunity.nebraska.gov/nahtf Pro-Formas for Rental Project applications need to be submitted to DED by March 31, 2022. Site review forms for new construction, rental rehab, rehab conversion, and infrastructure projects need submitted to DED Housing Representative by March 18, 2022.

Who is eligible to apply? 1. Governmental subdivisions 2. Public housing authorities 3. Community action agencies 4. Community-based, neighborhood-based, or reservation-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) organizations Above applicants may partner with for-profit developers, builders, lenders, human service providers, and state or federal agencies. The eligible applicant organization must be the applicant for the NAHTF funds.
